Description

Up for auction is a mint condition Deepeeka Hand-and-a-Half Sword made as a reproduction of a similar sword in the Cluny Museum in Paris.  It is an Oakeshott Type XVa sword, made from carbon steel and hardened and tempered for combat.  This is the "light combat" version, where the tip is rounded and the edges are thicker.  I'd expect the sword could be sharpened, but figure eBay'ers looking at this auction would know more.
This was a display piece, only handled to feel it's "heft" - never used for cutting or combat.  Blade is clean, as when purchased - and overall condition is excellent.  I'm not a sword expert, and overall this sword feels quite solid in the hand.  However, there are a few items to point out with respect to build quality that hint at this sword's retail price of 7 (from Deepeeka's website).  The wrap, where it meets the cross guard, doesn't quite finish up tight against the metal, so some of the underlying wood can be seen.  Pommel moves ever so slightly, but I imagine that can be tightened.  The scabbard has felt only on one side of the blade opening, so it's not perfectly symmetrical - but the sword lines up well when sheathed.
I have always been a fan of Type XVa swords, but realized I'm more of a fan of the Type XVIIIb - especially the specimen in the Bayerisches Nationalmuseum in Munich, Germany.  I've gotten the (reluctant) nod of the head from the better half to move up to the Albion Munich - so this rather nice sword needs to find a new home.
Please pay promptly.  Depending on your feedback rating, I may quickly initiate the non-paying bidder process if an auction is not paid within the allotted time given by eBay.  No warranty is offered or implied, but I am willing to work with the buyer should problems with the transaction arise.  Condition of the item is displayed in the photographs.
I primarily list on eBay, and seldom list locally, so I won't end the auction early - please don't ask.  I will pack up securely and ship upon auction end.  Thanks for looking, and Happy Bidding!!!
