:  This book is inspiring, creative, fun and a must have for jewelry designers. It is packed with photos from a wide array of international jewelry designers. The designers use traditional materials as well as found objects in their work. If you are having a creative block in designing jewelry, this book will open the floodgates and you will be carried away with new ideas. This is one of my favorite Lark Jewelry books.

    REVIEW
:  Congratulations to Lark and to Alan Revere (juror) for selecting an absolutely stunning, jaw dropping extravaganza of contemporary earrings. This collection is one of the best assembled, every page was completely different; a lovely photo, with a brief description of the materials and methods used to create the masterpiece. All styles, shapes, materials, assembly methods, design concepts seem to be covered, earrings that actually work and are wearable. In fact at least 95% of the earrings could be put into your jewelry collection immediately, a refreshing change from over the top "interpretations" that would never see the light of day.
I started to list the earrings that had stood out for me, and then realized that I would be listing nearly every one! A good blend of materials used too. I am very happy with this marvelous series of books for inspiration. Perhaps one of the best things with this book is that it will appeal to a wide variety of people. Traditionalists will love the classic and timeless pieces which bring Precious Metals and Gems together, on the other hand there are cutting edge designs and a diverse use of more "modern" media, plastics, resin, rubber, paper etc. Add to the mix found objects or unusual media such as toothpicks, butterfly wings and miniature tires ( that all actually work!!) and you have just about everyone's taste covered.
No instructions or projects here, just fabulous photos to fill your head with ideas and a desire to create (or rush out and buy!) I would still like to see a contact website or email listed alongside the artists name and country, contained in the back of the book. Then again, maybe not, I would surely be bankrupt after contacting the artists and trying to buy hundreds of these gorgeous earrings. Definitely a must have!
    REVIEW
:  Lightness, length, movement, suspension, symmetry, etc., are always attributes to take into consideration when designing earrings. No other forms of jewelry are as visible as earrings. They are sculptural manifestations of a designer's and wearer's mindset. "500 Earrings" published by Lark Books, is a wonderful compilation of unique and interesting forms, concepts, and presentation. Ear piercing was something I had never considered until I was in my late 20's. Since my budget was limited, I could never envision owning a pair of Tami Dean's Glitz Kick earrings of 18Kt gold decorated with rainbow pyrite, spinel, and diamonds. My style gravitated to a simple pair with small hoops and a most uncomfortable clip on mechanism.
Sometimes I would wear a conventional pair of pearl earrings, decorated with a faux jewel dangling on a jump ring. Nothing was as striking as Deborrah Dahr's Red, White, and Blue earrings created using 22kt, and 18kt gold, lapis lazuli, garnet, and pearl. Today, my style has changed, but alas not my jewelry budget. What I would give to own Masako Onodera's "The Mating Season." I have a long neck and the sterling silver, freshwater pearl, polyethylene cord earrings would surely enhance any of my ensembles.
Hsiao Chia-Pei "Change" with its aluminum, dye and anodized material sieve like shape might fit well into my stash of kitchen utensils. Alan Revere's shield like shaped earrings "Pearl Reflections" brings out the battle cry in me. Tessa E. Richard's earrings could be worn as a hat if one was so inclined. The earrings featured in "500 Earrings" should convince a designer that "once you get the hang of it," anything goes.
    REVIEW
:  A superb, balanced selection of earrings as art make this a great reference work for the designer, or just someone who likes earrings. Many types of designs and materials are represented. There's a clear, balanced approach to the huge array of designs, from structured and hyper-detailed styles to simplistic "found object" representations. This is not a craft book, but a selection of artists really at the top of their game. Some of the artists are nationally or internationally known, while many others found a platform for their expressions through this book.

:  I believe the Lark 500 series is one of the most beautiful book series I have ever seen. The photos of the particular product, e.g., this book's contemporary earrings, are marvelous as is the artisan's creativity. The next book I purchased was Lark’s book on contemporary necklaces, each and every one a jewel, pun intended. I highly recommend any one of the Lark Books in the “500 Series” as I have purchased a number of them and every time I look through them I get new ideas and they are a total treat.
    REVIEW
:  This book is kind of part of the “500” series by Lark Crafts.  These books have served me and many people I know as a source of Inspiration. They show one of a kind, hand made pieces by artists from all over the world. Some of the pieces also have descriptions from the artist about what inspired the piece or the ideas behind it. In a classroom, students could look at these books for ideas and see where other artists take their ideas from.

:  If you have a passion for jewelry and jewelry making, this is a book to sit down and leaf through. It's filled with both classic and modern (some very avant garde) styles of earrings. Some are absolutely gorgeous and some border on scary!
    REVIEW
:  Like the other books by the same publisher, pieces range from gorgeous to downright fantastic and improbable, but many items can serve as inspiration for earrings you could actually make and wear.
    REVIEW
:  As a beginning bench jeweler this series of books have given me product information besides the obvious design ideas. e.g. ultraviolet cement - not something I had been exposed to in class yet, but a marvelous material for pave work.
    REVIEW
:  The 500 series is a great source of inspiration. Many of the earrings in this book are beautiful, thought provoking, or both. Buy it, peruse it, take what is good, love what is great, and be amused by some of the “excessively creative” pieces.
    REVIEW
:  I liked many of the picture of the earrings. There were many designs that are very different and still marketable.

:  For those who loved 1000 rings you will also I think love this. It’s beautiful and with a vast array of earring styles, from wearable to artistic to practically sculpture. It is an inspiring coffee table book of inspiration. This title along with “1000 Rings” and “500 Necklaces” are all exceptional books. A lovely series that lark has done for inspiring jewelry makers with ideas.
    REVIEW
:  A good chunky book, filled with excellent close up photos of earrings made by a huge selection of jewelers. Easy to see how many of them are constructed, so lots of ideas for jewelers to incorporate some of the techniques into their own work.
    REVIEW
:  I was extremely impressed with not only the content, but the quality of the photos. It is hard to find jewelry books that display true art and inspire. Most of them are just cheesy "artsy-crafty". I would definitely buy this book again and any of the same collection.

:  The “500 Earrings” book is interesting, high quality, and well worth buying and reading. I don't wear earrings, but love the designs and artistic workmanship. I plan on getting the whole series. It isn't so much about earrings, as it is about art.
    REVIEW
:  It's definitely very well edited book, good quality photographs. Most images are artistic jewelry, designer jewelry, that could be in an art exhibition jewel The jewels are inspiring: the shapes, details, constructions, colors and more.

International orders are welcome, but shipping costs are substantially higher.
Most international orders cost an additional .99 to .99 for an

    includes
some form of rudimentary tracking and/or delivery confirmation (though for some countries, this is only available at additional cost). There is also a discount program which can cut postage costs by 50% to 75% if you’re buying about half-a-dozen books or more (5 kilos+).  Rates and available services vary a bit from country to country.  You can email or message me for a shipping cost quote, but I assure you they are as reasonable as USPS rates allow, and if it turns out the rate is too high for your pocketbook, we will cancel the sale at your request.

All of our shipments are sent via insured mail so as to comply with PayPal requirements.  We do NOT recommend uninsured shipments, and expressly disclaim any responsibility for the loss of an uninsured shipment.  Unfortunately the contents of parcels are easily “lost” or misdelivered by postal employees – even in the USA.  That’s why all of our domestic shipments (and most international) shipments
    include
a USPS delivery confirmation tag; or are trackable or traceable, and all shipments (international and domestic) are insured.  We do offer U.S. Postal Service Priority Mail, Registered Mail, and Express Mail for both international and domestic shipments, as well United Parcel Service (UPS) and Federal Express (Fed-Ex).  Please ask for a rate quotation.  We will accept whatever payment method you are most comfortable with.  If upon receipt of the item you are disappointed for any reason whatever, I offer a no questions asked return policy.  Send it back, I will give you a complete refund of the purchase price (less our original shipping costs).
Most of the items I offer come from the collection of a family friend who was active in the field of Archaeology for over forty years.  However many of the items also come from purchases I make in Eastern Europe, India, and from the Levant (Eastern Mediterranean/Near East) from various institutions and dealers.  Though I have always had an interest in archaeology, my own academic background was in sociology and cultural anthropology.  After my retirement however, I found myself drawn to archaeology as well.  Aside from my own personal collection, I have made extensive and frequent additions of my own via purchases on Ebay (of course), as well as many purchases from both dealers and institutions throughout the world - but especially in the Near East and in Eastern Europe.  I spend over half of my year out of the United States, and have spent much of my life either in India or Eastern Europe.  In fact much of what we generate on Yahoo, Amazon and Ebay goes to support The Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, as well as some other worthy institutions in Europe connected with Anthropology and Archaeology.
I acquire some small but interesting collections overseas from time-to-time, and have as well some duplicate items within my own collection which I occasionally decide to part with.  Though I have a collection of ancient coins numbering in the tens of thousands, my primary interest is in ancient jewelry.  My wife also is an active participant in the "business" of antique and ancient jewelry, and is from Russia.  I would be happy to provide you with a certificate/guarantee of authenticity for any item you purchase from me.  There is a fee for mailing under separate cover.  Whenever I am overseas I have made arrangements for purchases to be shipped out via domestic mail.  If I am in the field, you may have to wait for a week or two for a COA to arrive via international air mail.  But you can be sure your purchase will arrive properly packaged and promptly - even if I am absent.  And when I am in a remote field location with merely a notebook computer, at times I am not able to access my email for a day or two, so be patient, I will always respond to every email.  Please see our
