Description
My mother loved her chickens. This was her collection of Staffordshire, Attenbury, Indiana and whatever else chicken on nest she collected. Of course, I added a couple I came across in auctions. Habit of seeing them growing up. Now I'm listing so I can downsize. These have been in storage for about 15 years. If I can't see them, I don't need them. I did have them all displayed when she first moved up with us. They looked spectacular. This is a brown spotted hen. Someone who was an artist did this one. I think I could paint some of the chickens I see, but I wouldn't have designed this one. Nice medium golden basket with infinity braiding around the top. Nice hues of green, browns, and grays. Two eggs either side up front and one egg each side in back. Split tail painted. Some of the paint is coming off the inside and edge outside. Please check out pictures 4 and 12. Now check out the feather pattern. Light gray tan underneath and each diamond shape is highlighted in darker brown with white spots all over. I think it is just beautiful. I like the brown to light gray brown to dark gray on wings too. Now there is an issue on the direct back. I don't know from what, but you can probably see it in the pictures. I guess look over the pictures and come back to me about what you have seen or haven't. Comb back is missing a little red, as is the right facial thing. (is that a giblet? I don't know). Missing one spot on breast too. I think both pieces are marked "69" but the one is the dish looks more like "64". Two chips off front inner hen lid edge and tiny fleabite on right side too. If you can enlarge the hole where the head is, you will see two pottery separations, but nothing to the outside. The nest is unmarked outside. I see no chips, cracks or paint loss to that piece. Measures 10"L x 7 3/8W x 7 1/2"T and weighs 3 lbs. 6 oz. prior to packaging.Any questions, ask.
